A-Z Search, Frequently Requested Topics, Healthy Living, and Quality Matters
- The Healthwise® Knowledgebase provides consumer-oriented information – comprehensive, current, evidence-based and medically-reviewed – to help you make decisions about your health. It offers easy-to-find and easy-to-understand information about conditions, diseases, medical tests, medications, treatment options and key decision points. The Healthwise® Knowledgebase also includes content from the National Cancer Institute, the National Organization for Rare Diseases, the American Self-Help Clearinghouse and Cerner Multum, Inc. Drug Reference. Healthwise® Knowledgebase is accredited by URAC, a non-profit organization that evaluates health Web sites to ensure they deliver quality health content and services.
- The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) provides information on how to choose quality healthcare. In cooperation with other agencies of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, AHRQ is the lead federal agency charged with sponsoring and conducting research on the quality and outcomes of healthcare services, as well as the cost, use, and access to those services.
National Institutes of Health and National Library of Medicine
- The U.S. National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health offers access to authoritative information from the world's largest medical library. The Library collects materials and provides information and research services in all areas of biomedicine and healthcare.
- MedlinePlus offers information on over 650 conditions, diseases, prevention and wellness topics; 165 slide shows with audio instructions and illustrations explaining health conditions and treatments; healthcare provider directories; and clinical trials for new drugs and treatments. MedlinePlus is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health.
- National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health provides information about alternative medicine, including treatments, conditions and supplements.
- ClinicalTrials.gov, a service of the National Institutes of Health, provides regularly updated information about federally and privately supported clinical research on human volunteers. It also offers information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details.
