Welcome to Communique.  You are now part of a growing number of AARP staffers empowered to created, edit, publish and manage you own content. How cool is that!

This article serves as an example of how to populate an article template.  Each of the sections contains fully populated fields to demonstrate how each field should be populated.  For example, article content not only featues article title (how it appears on the page), but search engine optimization title as well.  What is that, you ask?  Well, in the event you have an article about crime with a catchy title,  "Holy Cow, Batman," the search engine does not know it's about crime.  It won't necessary come up in a search on crime.  It may come up in a search about beef, farm, etc. In order to ensure your content is retrieved correctly, use the SEO to say "Crime in DC at an all time low."

The summary text is displayed search results below paragraph title, article source.  It lets users know what the article is about.

There is also associated image that will appear at the top of the article and of course, meta data. 

How important is meta data?  Its important enought to not only have its own tab, but is a required field for publishing content. You see, by copying and pasting from the taxonomy the system interprets meta data in many ways:  it tells exteranl search engines what's in an article, groups content internally for related links, and allows advertisers to target ads based on this information.

Additionally, take a look at the sidebar.  It is a feature that appears in proxy only.  The sidebar can contain text and images (small images) and also feature audio files as well. A good example of use of the side bar, in addition to manually featuring related links is to break up a very long article into multiple pages and link them through the sidebar.
