At Rock Steady Boxing in Indianapolis, patients with Parkinson’s are using the sport to build confidence

They pound a punching bag, practice a mean left hook and try to  “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” as Muhammad Ali used to say about his boxing technique.

That’s the goal of Rock Steady Boxing in Indianapolis, where patients with Parkinson’s are using the sport's training regimen to build confidence and fight off the debilitating effects of their illness. Pro boxer Kristy Rose Follmar heads up the program and says her clients often discover they can push—and hit—harder than they ever expected.
