Time is money. It's a cliche, yes, but even the "priceless" volunteer hours given by a generous country can be translated into dollars and cents. Nearly 27 percent of the U.S. adult population gave 8.1 billion hours of volunteer service worth $169 billion in 2009, according to the Corporation for National and Community Service.
