In celebration of Grandparent’s Day, which was Sept.11, the Governor Juan F. Luis (JFL) Hospital's Principal for Communications & Community, Xaulanda H. Simmonds-Emmanuel and Host/Producer of the hospital's internet radio program, "Vibrant Health," invited our State President, Dr. Paul Simmonds to serve as a guest on the program.

By way of background, “Vibrant Health”, is a JLF strategic initiative to “Be Top of Mind” by dominating connectivity with patients, physicians, team members, business partners and community. “Vibrant Health” was launched as part of Kallalloo Networks’ Health Channel which is owned by businessman, Anthony Weeks. The program is streamed live from JFL Hospital’s Virgin Islands Cardiac Center.

As a representative of AARP, Dr. Simmonds along with fellow guest speaker Dr. Robert Thompson who is the Chief of Internal Medicine, were asked to discuss the topic of “Healthcare for the Aging Population.” Dr. Simmonds discussed the AARP survey that targeted African-American and Hispanic adults over age 50 that was conducted in the Virgin Islands. He also discussed the overarching goals of the healthcare reform and local advocacy efforts as part of the AARP Protect Seniors Campaign.

The AARP State Office staff and volunteers hope to participate in the radio program in the future as a way to share information about healthcare for the aging population.
