Volunteering

Connect to Serve with AARP Utah

Through education, advocacy and service, AARP Utah volunteers and staff work together to enhance the quality of life for all ages. We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities where you can put your time, skills and experience to work for others. Whether it is behind the scenes supporting AARP’s continuing work, or lending a hand directly to others in your community – your efforts will make a difference.

Here are just some of the many opportunities we offer:

AARP Driver Safety Program

Become a trained driver safety instructor and teach others on-the-road safety skills.

Advocacy

AARP Utah is involved with advocacy at the state and federal level on issues of concern to our members, including consumer protection issues such as identity theft, health care, Medicare and Medicaid, livable communities, and financial regulation. Advocacy volunteers can help AARP Utah's efforts by meeting with state and federal legislators, contacting elected officials, attending strategy sessions with advocates from other organizations, and educating the public about legislation that may interest them.

While most of the advocacy work is focused on state issues, there are opportunities to work on federal issues and participate in our work in Washington, DC to help promote AARP's social impact mission.

Communications

If you like to communicate, there are a number of volunteer opportunities with AARP Utah! We have need for photographers, videographers, writers, and those with some public relations experience throughout the state to help with a variety of projects and events. We are also looking for volunteers with computer, web and social media skills of varying degrees. Most of these opportunities are occasional or on-going with minor to moderate time commitment.

Community Outreach

Help establish and preserve AARP’s presence by providing support to AARP programs and events in your community, and work with area leaders to make an impact in your community. Leadership opportunities are also available in certain areas of the state.

Tax-Aide

Assist middle-and low-income taxpayers of all ages with, special attention to those age 60 and older, as an IRS-trained Tax-Aide volunteer.

To learn more about these and other programs AARP has to offer here in Utah, call our Connect to Serve Volunteer Hotline: 1-801-567-2652.

You are sure to meet wonderful people and make some new friends, too.

We look forward to connecting with you.
