Officials with the City of Glendale turned out to recognize the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program and its volunteers for 25 years of service in helping assist people with tax preparation at the Glendale Adult Center.
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers have been providing free tax-counseling service at the center since 1987. The Glendale Adult Center is considered one of the largest AARP Foundation Tax-Aide sites in the country, ranking 15th overall.
“We’re so proud of the work our Arizona Tax-Aide volunteers have provided at the Glendale Adult Center,” said David Mitchell, AARP Arizona State Director. “It’s obvious that many, many people are being helped by AARP Foundation program volunteers, and we appreciate the partnership of the City of Glendale Adult Center in this effort.”
Mitchell and various Glendale city officials were on hand at a recent recognition ceremony to honor several AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers’ for their many years of service. Those recognized included Genevieve Kilfoyle of Glendale, Bill Long of Sun City, Bonnie Tryon of Sun City and Jane Peterson of Phoenix.
“It’s great that so many turned out to honor the service of our volunteers,” said Frank Perazelli, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide state coordinator. “We value and appreciate our long-standing partnership with the Glendale Adult Center and look forward to many more years of helping people at the center with tax preparation.”
During the 2012 tax-filing season, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers helped over 3000 people at the center with their tax returns. The Glendale Adult Center is the third largest among 75 AARP Foundation Tax-Aide sites in Arizona.
