Calling All Track and Field Enthusiasts

AARP Virgin Islands is always looking for ways to help our members give back to the community and utilize their experience and special interests. But we realize that all volunteer opportunities are not created equal. Perhaps you’ve even been looking for a way to volunteer but haven’t found that one opportunity which appeals to you.

Well, here’s an opportunity that just might pull at your heart strings and help you feel younger too! AARP is concerned about our youth and we want to highlight our intergenerational approach through working with the VI Track and Field Federation on St. Croix. Just think of all the benefits for you and our VI youngsters. You’ll get to be outdoors in the fresh air, getting some exercise, doing something you love and at the same time you’ll be helping our young people participate in great athletic events that could help shape their future.

Are you considering volunteering but feel that you are a little rusty on the rules and regulations of the many types of events? Well, that’s not a problem. This particular volunteer opportunity comes with additional perks. The VI Track and Field Federation is willing to train you in the various aspects of the sport as well as provide a practice session for you to try it out before a real event. And, if that’s not enticing enough, volunteers selected to participate in this program will receive a $50.00 stipend for participating in the practice event. So, how can you lose – this is a great opportunity!

The Federation is looking for 10 dedicated volunteers, either men or women, whose commitment to their community will focus on nurturing young athletes’ track and field abilities.
