Brent Halverson is AARP Alabama’s New Volunteer State President

Brent Halverson is AARP Alabama's new volunteer state president.

In the role, Halverson chairs the volunteer executive council, and in conjunction with the council and state staff, he works on planning, building partnerships and achieving AARP's local, state and national goals. During his 18-year AARP membership, Halverson has volunteered as a district advocacy team member, multicultural diversity trainer and investment fraud trainer.
 
He is a retired Auburn University faculty member in adult and vocational education, and was a faculty member at Georgia Southern University in adult and community education. He was a program leader for community resource development with Virginia Tech, and state director for adult and community education with the Georgia Department of Education.
 
Outside of AARP, he serves on the board of directors for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Auburn University and has served on the boards of directors for the Lee County Literacy Coalition and the East Alabama Youth for Christ. He has been an East Alabama Medical Center volunteer and serves on the Jubilee Council of Auburn United Methodist Church.

Halverson and his wife of 46 years, Dani, are Auburn residents. They have two adult sons, Jason and Peter.
