Traveling across the state as the AARP Pennsylvania State President, I meet people who tell me how important Medicare and Social Security are to their daily lives and their future.

That’s why AARP launched You’ve Earned a Say – to ensure that Americans have balanced information about the changes under consideration in Washington and a platform to speak out about how any proposed change to Medicare and Social Security would impact them and their families. Within the last several months dedicated Pennsylvania volunteers collected over 32,000 questionnaires from across the state, reflecting the views of members and people who are concerned about the future of our programs and want to make their voice heard.

Keeping up the momentum, we're hitting the road this fall, and we would like YOU to join us!

AARP will be bringing the “You’ve Earned a Say” Tour to targeted cities across the Commonwealth this fall and we are inviting you to come out and help make the tour a success!

We are taking the debate about the future of Social Security and Medicare out of Washington, literally, and showing our commitment to listening to our members and the public. Our You’ve Earned A Say mobile unit will be traveling to state fairs, community festivals, candidate debates, and other events along the route.

According to the results of a new series of surveys by AARP, we have also learned that voters across party lines in the coming November elections are driven by economic anxieties that extend well beyond the single issue of jobs. The survey reveals voters age 50+ want the candidates to better explain their plans for Social Security and Medicare, which will help them determine their votes on election day.

Topping our members list of economic worries are:

  • Inflation
  • Taxes
  • The opportunity to eventually retire
  • Financial security during retirement
  • The affordability of health care

Make sure you take a moment and stay informed by reading the full survey.
