En español | Colorful and cool might say it best. In this slide show of photographs by Simon Bruty, Jeff Gordon and his Hendrick Motorsports team go through a typical routine before and on race day as they prepare for this year's NASCAR Sprint Cup Brickyard 400. Whether suited and helmeted for the race or advocating for the Drive to End Hunger, Gordon never loses his steely gaze on the ultimate goal: getting #24 to the checkered flag first.
His face sweaty after the race, Gordon seems to ponder what might have been. Moving up in the closing laps by running as much as two seconds a lap faster than the leader, Gordon fell just short of an unprecedented fifth victory at the Brickyard 400, finishing second to first-time winner Paul Menard by less than three-quarters of a second. — Photo by Simon Bruty15 of 15
