Faces of Hunger

Michael Nye's photographs don't show the people you might expect

Over 50 million Americans go hungry each day. For many people, this may seem like just another jaw-dropping statistic, but to photographer Michael Nye, these men and women all have a unique face and a memorable story to tell.

Michael spent over four years traveling the country capturing the faces of hunger. He listened to stories of starvation and resilience while taking photographs of those who have so little. But they are not the vagabonds and street-corner characters you might expect. Many are the former middle class, those who had it all planned out, who now have fallen on hard times in the current economy.

My Generation reveals a very clear portrait of hunger in America.
