Improving Nursing Homes — and Helping People Find Good Ones

When Peg's husband needed a nursing home she worried about the quality of care he would receive, but was in poor health herself and felt she had no choices. She did not even know what questions to ask when she visited nursing facilities.

Teaming up with AARP, checklists and other information are being distributed that help consumers like Peg ask the right question about nursing home care. But we need to do more, such as establishing a family resource center staffed by specialists.
