1. Merguez Sausage With Fennel and Couscous by Padma Lakshmi

Cooking this Moroccan dish will satisfy your appetite and leave your kitchen filled with an inviting aroma. Flavorful and often underused spices such as cumin, bay leaves and sumac fill out this healthful dish, complementing sausage and couscous. Harissa, or substituted cayenne pepper, makes this dish a little spicy as well.

Per serving: 433 calories, 15g fat, 65g carbohydrates, 13g protein, 5g fiber

2. Cheryl's Tortellini and Spinach Soup by Beverly Mills and Alicia Ross

In addition to being low in calories and high in protein, spinach makes this soup a great source of vitamins K and A, which are said to promote bone and eye health. Compared with some other soups of the season, this is a quick fix for a comfort food craving, and will have you saying "mmm" in an hour or less.

Per serving: 349 calories, 12g fat, 44g carbohydrates, 19g protein, 5g fiber

3. Celtic Lamb and Barley Soup by Antony Worrall Thompson

Nutritious vegetables and whole-grain barley pull most of the weight in this truly robust soup, making it low in calories. But if you still crave a good ol' meat and potatoes meal, this also has you covered. It's the best of both worlds!

Per serving: 246 calories, 8g fat, 29g carbohydrates

4. Yellow Split Pea Soup With Autumn Squash and Kale by Janet Fletcher

Summer may have passed, but that doesn't mean the farmers market can't continue to be a source of food inspiration. Kale and autumn squash will give you your fill of fiber and nutrients, as fresh rosemary and tomatoes add brighter notes to this soup.

Per serving: 413 calories, 12g fat, 57g carbohydrates, 23g protein, 19g fiber
