The Meaning of Sports

Michael Mandelbaum is both a sports nut and a professor of American foreign policy— so it is not surprising that he likes to discuss the relationship between American sporting traditions and American politics. But in The Meaning of Sports, Mandelbaum goes beyond simple metaphor to examine the evolution of the three major American sports—football, basketball, and baseball—and how our collective passion for them reflects the trends and values of our society. Professor Mandelbaum joins host Mike Cuthbert.
