2007 Livable Communities Awards
AARP and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) developed this special awards program to recognize forward-thinking builders, remodelers, and developers whose cutting-edge designs enhance the daily comfort, ease-of-use, and safety of American families.
Nine out of 10 Americans age 50+ say that they want to stay in their current homes and communities as they age. The design elements and features produced by the 2007 award winners help make real the goal of assuring independence, comfort, and safety through design and diversity of housing and services in communities. AARP and NAHB are proud to recognize these winners:

The two organizations have been working together since 2002 to address the needs of American families through the co-development of the Certified Aging-in-Place (CAPS) designation program, which certifies contractors to remodel homes with user-friendly design features.
