As the holiday season draws near, the demand for children's gifts is rapidly growing, especially in the toy sector. However, rather than aiming their message solely towards children, toy manufacturers are also gearing their focus towards grandparents. An estimated 96 percent of grandparents buy holiday gifts for their grandchildren and 76 percent of those buy toys, according to the AARP. To help grandparents choose the right toy, AARP officials recommend looking for the age rating on the toy's package and talking to the child's parents to find out what their grandchildren are interested in and allowed to have.
