AARP Experience Corps Tempe is hosted by the City of Tempe Community Services Department, Social Services Division. Adults age 50-plus work with students one-on-one or in small groups in kindergarten through third grade, improving literacy skills and self-confidence. Tutors are community members who have expressed an interest and willingness to make a difference in a child's life. They receive extensive training and on-site support during the school year.
City of Tempe Social Services Division provides comprehensive services to residents and families. The programs offered to Tempe residents are varied and include counseling, Care 7 crisis response services, youth prevention programs, adult diversion, Kid Zone after school enrichment program and two comprehensive neighborhood multigenerational centers. The City of Tempe has hosted AARP Experience Corps since 2006.
