Dr. Phil Teams Up With AARP

Popular TV host and Life Reimagined debut new life navigation tools

Television's Dr. Phil McGraw is joining forces with AARP. The famed life-strategy expert has teamed with AARP's Life Reimagined to offer a new audience his steps to living their best lives.

The resulting partnership, announced Feb. 29 — "Become the Best Version of Yourself: A Personal Journey Guided by Dr. Phil" — will debut as an online platform offering original content developed by McGraw. He will showcase the digital experience on his syndicated show Wednesday, March 2.

"Each one of us is a combination of beliefs, facts, opinion and perceptions," McGraw says. "I believe that becoming more conscious of your thoughts and behaviors can create the life experiences you want. I'm excited to bring this sort of personal introspection to the Life Reimagined platform and provide a fresh way for people to experience my approach."

"Become the Best Version of Yourself: A Personal Journey Guided by Dr. Phil" will use the televised troubleshooter's best-selling book Self Matters as a springboard to help people discover whom they truly are. This "authentic self," McGraw believes, often possesses skills and abilities not yet known — and often deeply buried. Features of the program will include:

  • Video tutorials with Dr. Phil
  • Authenticity Quiz (a guided life assessment)
  • Test of Congruency (understanding the factors that shape your sense of self)
  • Step-by-Step Action Plan

The programs and exercises provided by Dr. Phil are designed to help people take control of their lives in the same plain-talking, no-nonsense style that has made McGraw the top-performing syndicated TV talk-show host in the U.S.

"We are living longer, healthier, more active lives," says Emilio Pardo, president of Life Reimagined, a nonprofit subsidiary of AARP, "and that means millions of Americans are rethinking aging and retirement. Dr. Phil has spent his professional life helping others navigate life's transitions — big and small — so we're thrilled to bring his methodology to life in such a highly interactive way."

Life Reimagined is a unique suite of life-management tools from AARP that aims to help people discover their untapped gifts and true goals. More than 2 million people now use Life Reimagined as their handbook for exploring possibilities and defining steps to reach them. Selected activities in "Become the Best Version of Yourself: A Personal Journey Guided by Dr. Phil" will be offered free of charge; others can be accessed by subscription ($19.95 per month).
