Fall TV for Grownups

Our favorite TV shows have the most potential for longevity

'Last Resort'

Andre Braugher (Homicide, Men of a Certain Age) leads a fantastic cast. It may be hard for Last Resort to keep up the dazzling pace of its pilot, but if it does you'll want to dive into this lost submarine drama every week. Click through for more new shows that already have us hooked.

'Nashville'

One of the many reasons to watch this country music drama is to see the gifted Connie Britton. She's the actress who won Emmy nods for Friday Night Lights and American Horror Story, playing a 40-something diva trying to stay relevant in a changing industry. Plus, she sings.

'Malibu Country'

The best thing about Reba McEntire's new show isn't Reba (though she's pretty good). It's Lily Tomlin, who as her mom hilariously dishes out grandmotherly advice, while sucking on a medical marijuana lollipop.

'Vegas'

It's Chiklis vs. Quaid in the battle for the soul of Las Vegas. Set in the early '60s, the show offers a little Mad Men, a dollop of Casino and a slice of High Noon. Michael Chiklis, who helmed The Shield for seven seasons, is a sure bet; Dennis Quaid looks great on the small screen.

'Elementary'

CBS' new Sherlock Holmes is set in modern-day New York City, with Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) as a recovering drug addict. But Dr. Watson is Joan, not John, played by sexy Lucy Liu. In addition to the weekly whodunit, expect a good dose of will-they-or-won't they?
