10 Top TV Theme Songs

Remember when series openers had catchy tunes and fun lyrics?

10. Sesame Street

Sesame Street is very good at counting, and by its own official tally, more than 80 million people have tuned in to hear the song that begins, "Sunny day. Sweepin' the clouds away." The theme was created 42 years ago by composer Joe Raposo and lyricists Jon Stone and Bruce Hart for a brand new show for preschoolers on PBS. Raposo enlisted jazz harmonica player Jean "Toots" Thielemans and a children's choir to record the theme, still enjoyed regularly by our grandchildren, and, admit it, ourselves.
