Transferring
Another advantage of digital music is you can take it with you. Your music library can be programmed to transfer to almost every device you can think of — your portable music player, your smartphone, an iPad or other tablet device — so you can have your music with you when you're driving, working out or traveling. Each time you connect your device to your main computer, it will sync your most recent updates and additions to your library. Amazon and the Apple store both sell cables that will connect your portable device to your car stereo, and devices that will allow you to play your music library directly through your home stereo speakers.
So while pushing a button to purchase a song on your computer may be a less fulfilling experience than spending an hour flipping through the bins at your neighborhood record store (which may or may not be there anymore), digital music has its perks. You can access your library in a matter of seconds, add to it without fear that what you want to buy is out of stock and download your favorites to all your gadgets to listen whenever and wherever you want to. And maybe, just maybe, you can impress your grandson with how hip you are.
