It all started with Bonanza. When Rafe Stefanini was growing up, he was captivated by this classic TV western. When his father bought him an album of the show’s music themes—Rafe instantly fell in love with the old-time tunes. It’s the traditional music of Appalachia…a little bit square-dance, a little bit hillbilly, with lots of guitars, banjos and fiddles.

Rafe taught himself to play each of these instruments and learned the classic songs by ear. He’s played professionally for more than three decades, both alone and with a number of bands, and has earned a loyal following. But now, Rafe has found a new fiddle partner unlike any he’s ever played with before, and they’re bringing old-time music to a whole new generation of fans.
My Generation discovers how one man turned an unlikely passion into a new profession and a novel way of connecting with family, friends and fans.
