Marin Alsop, music director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra KNOWS musicians — and not just the seasoned pros she conducts regularly. She knows there are many once-upon-a-time instrumentalists, former school band players and rec-room guitar strummers who with a little encouragement could get their chops back and play as well as they once did.
She started a summer music immersion program for "Rusty Musicians," giving them a little "oil" so they could shake off the dust, and play in a public concert with the BSO.
Trumpet player Dan Rosinski is one of the "rusties" who took part in the training program, and he and Maestro Alsop join host Mike Cuthbert to share their perspectives on the program and relate the enormous gratification it brought to each of them.
