Join us on May 14, 2009 for AARP's Ninth Annual Day of Service. On this day, we hope you'll join thousands of people around the country to make a difference in local communities.

Once a year, on the second Thursday in May, thousands of AARP employees, volunteers, and members make time to serve their community. Last year, more than 25,000 people participated. This year, we want you to join us.

We created "50 Ways to Make a Difference" in honor of AARP’s 50th Anniversary. Of course, you can also pick your own project. There are plenty of ways to help—either by clicking the mouse, helping a neighbor, or volunteering for a nearby organization.

Whether you help someone on May 14 or on another day you choose, you can champion the new wave of volunteering in your community and make a difference for those in need.

Why do you like to volunteer? What’s your favorite way to help others? Who do you know that is a superstar in your community? Join our Online Community, connect with others, and tell us what you did to make a difference.
