Every driver must be able to start the vehicle easily, unless of course they have selected a vehicle with the newer keyless option.

Some very simple solutions are available for drivers who have difficulties with these tasks, an occupational therapy practitioner or driving rehabilitation specialist can give the driver information about adaptive devices.

Be aware if the driver has difficulties in turning the key. For example, the driver may need to move his or her trunk to get closer to the ignition switch because of limited reach. The driver may grimace if this task causes pain or use both hands to turn the key. If this occurs, the driver's physican or an occupational therapy practitioner should be consulted.
