Borges as Photographer

You can see Phil Borges' work, including photo galleries and page-turnable excerpts from his books, at www.philborges.com. His portraits of indigenous people in rapidly shrinking cultures around the world have dignity and grace.

Watch as he explains and shows this work documenting disappearing cultures in a 2006 TED talk (#393).

Borges as Mentor

Bridges to Understanding is his personal passion. Its mission is "engaging students worldwide in direct, interactive learning and storytelling to build cross-cultural understanding."

See for yourself: Proof of effectiveness is in the Bridges student blogs. For instance, you can take "A Journey to Happiness" along with student storytellers who visit a hermit monk in his Himalayan cabin.

Borges' most recent workshop is November 1 through 9, 2008, at Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala.

Borges is scheduled to speak on "Women Empowered" at the Edmonds United Methodist Church in Edmonds, WA, on November 22, 2008. A selection of his "Tibetan Portraits" is currently on view  in the lobby at CavalloPoint, 601 Murray Circle, Sausalito, CA, through January 2, 2009.
