Dear Willie, I am so glad to hear from you. I'm sorry you had some trouble getting on the site. But at least you are on now, and we can converse.
Your afghan sounds beautiful. I love cables combined with the seed stitch. Did you make it for you, or are you going to take it to the nursing home? Whoever uses it will have a wonderful afghan.
I have a great pattern for premie hats, if you'd like I can send it to you. It is quite easy and fast, which is my style. :-) I also knit a helmut liner for the army. I only knit one as I found it to be quite tedious. I think it was tedious because I still knit in the old fashioned way - throwing my yarn. I tried the continental, but when I found out that the guage is different and I had so many unfinished projects using my old fashioned method, I decided that I'd just stick to my old way.
I just today finished a poncho and I have made several felted purses. As the weather has turned cold here, I actually think I may wear my poncho. My daughter and I took a class in hand dying sock yarn. It was fun, even if a little messy. I just wonder if I'll ever get around to knitting socks using it. I am knitting an interesting scarf. It's knitted on the side rather than from one end to the other. The last row is interesting too, it's knit five st, drop five st; knit five st, drop five st; etc until the last 35 stitches. You drop all 35. I saw a finished scarf and it's lovely.
Please don't worry about the time lapse, it's just good to hear from you again. Bev

Bev! Great! I'd love the directions for your preemie hat! When you say you knit the old-fashioned way, what does that mean--throwing your yarn???? Poncho sounds ambitious. Let me know about the scarf, too, I might like to make one of those too. And... the helmut liner. That might be nice to try to give to a military organization. Oh, the afghan was for me. I had made one that was the crocheted pineapple design, and I kept it for ages. However, it really was too lacey, and it didn't keep me warm. Thus, FINALLY, I knit the new one. I already love it. Feel free to use my e-mail address, so if I don't get a chance to get into this site (where I can spend hours), I'll get the (whatever you want to send) instructions. I'm at: wbranaga@twcny.rr.com. I'm so glad you wrote back right away!

Dear Willie, It is so nice to have you a member of our little group. I am so surprised, seeing how busy you are, that you have time to knit.
I, too, am the cheerleader type. Even when I tried to bowl, I carried an average of 92. However; I was popular as a substitute because we got such a large handicap. The rest of the sports I tried had even more dire results. :-)
I live in Dearborn, Michigan, and today is about the most perfect day that I have seen in a long, long time.
I was reading Skeeto's reply to one of your postings. She mentions that you are a 5-year survivor. Is that a cancer survivor? I just passed my 5 years after breast cancer, with no sign of recurrence. I'm so grateful.
I am a widow, and I also lost my youngest daughter three years ago. My oldest daughter lives in the condo next door to me, and I'm enjoying that.
I hope to hear from you again. I'd like to know what knitting projects you are working on.

Bev, Hi! Thanx for your note. I had major problems with the site, and haven't been able to get on with regularity for some time. I kow it has been awhile, but I'm going through all my messages, and responding to those that are more personal, such as yours. Yes, I am a breast cancer survivor, and doing well. I'm glad that you are doing well, too, but sorry to learn you are a widow. It can be difficult to be along, but so hard to lose a spouse at a younger age. Wow! You certainly have had your share of sorrow. I'm really glad your oldest daughter lives next door. Not only must you enjoy it, but it must be a comfort as well. Bev, I just finished an afghan (big) for me. It is a natural color with cables and seed stitch. Then, last night I finished a prayer shawl. I have a few things that I am going to take to a nursing home, and as I had leftover yarn I crocheted the shawl. That didn't take too long. Now, I think I may start some preemie caps. Lion Brand Yarn has a great website with lots of free patterns that you can download. Excellent! Again, sorry about the time lapse; hope you'll write again. Willie
