About Me

I am a retired college administrator. I completed my BS in Sociology/Psychology, being the only one in my immediate family to have a 4-year degree. I entered graduate school, but started to burn out, so I opted out. In hindsight, rather sorry I did. I enjoy watching golf, tennis, some college basketball, football, etc. I've taken golf lessons, but remain a beginner. I enjoy reading, movies, television, plus...trying to make each day a happy one. I belong to a mystery lover's discussion group that meets at one of the local libraries once per month. I never thought I'd be a mystery reader, but I am now.

Interests:
Well, there really isn't too much to add to that that I have written in the "About Me" section. I do handicrafts, mostly knitting and crocheted items. I am not, nor have I ever been, athletic (kind of klutzy, you might say--the tennis racquets I used always had a hole in them). However, I make a great cheerleader!

How many of you have seen the commercials on television--attorneys advertising their services, assuring people that they can help them apply for and receive Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits?  Well, I am here to tell you that the only cases they will take are the ones they are sure they can win.  Why?  Because that is the only way they can get paid.  There is a cap on what they can receive from your benefit, but that is the way it is.

Social Security is archaic, understaffed and underfunded.  The waiting time for those who apply (after they have been denied the first time) is, last I knew, almost two years.  What is one, a bonafide American citizen, who, through no fault of their own has become disabled in some fashion--unable to work, supposed to do in the interim for their cost of living?

I was lucky.  I was able to gain the services of my NYS US Senator, Hilary Clinton.  Within about two months of writing to her, my appeal for benefits was approved.  I might hope that this could be an issue that AARP may be able to address.

Dear Willie, It is so nice to have you a member of our little group. I am so surprised, seeing how busy you are, that you have time to knit.
I, too, am the cheerleader type. Even when I tried to bowl, I carried an average of 92. However; I was popular as a substitute because we got such a large handicap. The rest of the sports I tried had even more dire results. :-)
I live in Dearborn, Michigan, and today is about the most perfect day that I have seen in a long, long time.
I was reading Skeeto's reply to one of your postings. She mentions that you are a 5-year survivor. Is that a cancer survivor? I just passed my 5 years after breast cancer, with no sign of recurrence. I'm so grateful.
I am a widow, and I also lost my youngest daughter three years ago. My oldest daughter lives in the condo next door to me, and I'm enjoying that.
I hope to hear from you again. I'd like to know what knitting projects you are working on.
