Bad Axe, Michigan

I was the first person to demand, in public, that President Richard Nixon resign on April 25, 1974 near Bad Axe, Michigan with 400 or more witnesses.  I also founded and distributed the U.S. national petition to support the recognition of Bangladesh as a free nation.

Hi again! Wow! You really were (and may I presume are still) totally anti war. Right On! Best, jerrysjingles Ilene

In 69-71 I was crew chief on the day shift for Student Times, Inc., Boston,Mass. WE were a couple blocks west of the Boston Red Sox Stadium. We had a dozen or so weekly newspapers, the names of which I neglected to jot down before I sat down to forward my response. We always got 50 hours a week, often 60. We also had several weeks in which we hit 100 hours in a week. I set the house record at 28 hours straight. On occasion we representatives of the FBI ask to see what we intended to print prior to our printing and publication. We always declined, as would any other publisher. At the time it was becoming more and more apparent that J Edgar Hoover was approaching newspapers with political intent rather than criminal intent, as was his required mandate. We always required any story line to have three separate and/or independent sources for publishing. We did not allow the printing of any material which could be construed as sexist. So you can see we were relatively staid. Our point of contention was that we believed in antiwar activism. To that end we had no end of contention between ourselves and the Nixon administration. SEA

How did you happen to be the one to do that? Were you in politics, or a citizen demanding justice. You know , there have always been rumors that Alger Hiss, the guy Nixon sent to prison, as a lawyer, was innocent. Do you know anything about that?? Curious.
