So sorry your husband isn't well. It's nice that he has someplace to walk to and to do something besides sit around and think. We are surprised by a couple of red tomatoes, too. We never expect any before the 4th of July.... that's our goal but this year it's a week early. I guess the weather has been a bit unusual all over the country. Now that I think of it, "unusual" is quite an under statement, isn't it? This year has been absolutely WILD! ! ! ! We were lucky I think because we were only dry.... and I do mean dry. No doubt you have heard that the SanFrancisco area and Northern California has had over a thousand fires and we don't really have that many firefighters. So it has been a mess. Nothing burning close to us but the smoke has fouled the air so much that the state put out a "Hazardous Air Quality" warning for anyone with even a slight respiratory ailment. They beg people to take m****transit and leave their cars in the garage. I guess the commuters are taking it seriously because the traffic count is way down and the transit patronage is way up. Good for them.
Didn't mean to go on so long. I have a tendency to do that some times. Sorry.
Best regards to you and your husband. Nan

Thank's Nan. Yes I have heard about the fires out there. I just can't imagine how devastating it must be. I'm glad to hear none you them are close to you, and that air quality thing has got to be horrible I know even I have problems when it gets really humid here, I try to stay in air conditioning as much as possible. Have a nice evening!Lyda

Welcome to the Dirty Hands Group. If you have any spare time to garden we would love to hear about it. It doesn't matter if you plow 40 acres, putter in the back yard or just plant a few pots. Just so you get your hands dirty. Let us hear from you

Hi Nan,
Yes we love to garden. It is a spare time thing that takes up most of our time. Our garden is at our house that we are trying to remodel it is about five blocks away from where we live. My husband walks over every day if he is feeling up to it. It is his form of exercize and relaxation, he has cancer so when he feels up to it and he just needs to get out of the house a little bit he will take a walk while I'm at work. sometimes to just sit and meditate. It keeps us busy. We will be soongetting our first red tomato and thats early here for PA. We also do our own canning tomatoes, pickels, and peppers
