About Me

Hi! I am a HAPPY old hippy from Minneapolis. I moved to TX in 1976, with exh and pregnant and barefoot with my first child. Two more children, an abusive husband, and after 23 yrs of it, finally divorced. I began Tai Chi classes, worked very hard at it. (8-10 hrs a day) Became a instructor and met my wonderful husband (of eleven years) in a martial arts chat room. He is nine years younger than me. I always say it takes a young one to keep up with me. At least at that time. I was dx'd with fibromyalgia in Jan. 2001 and howdy has it changed my life! I have one son, two daughters, seven grands: 4 girls and 3 boys. A seven yr old grandson that has lived with dh and I for all his seven yrs. He keeps us busy and running for sure. I call him my son and moon, my day and night, my life and breath. I also have the oldest grandaughter that comes to stay with us every weekend so I am truly gifted! Of course, my husband is the LOVE of my life! He is military disabled with a TBI from being injured in the line of duty during his Service to our wonderful, free Nation. But I don't think he is damaged in the least! He is the most beautiful peacock the world has ever seen! LOL! We are very private people for the most part. We rescued a little rat terrier four yrs ago. Her name is Shay Shay, it means thank you in Chinese. She is SOOO not a Rat dog! She is a couch potato and bed monkey! My son went with when we searched the shelter, he paid the adoption fee. He took us to the pet store to have Shay Shay washed and bought all the things a new dog owner would possibly need. To him I say thank you, hence the dog's name

Interests:
Tai Chi, qigong, martial arts in general. Although I am rather "sporty" I have never been good at sports! I served on the boards of the schools my kids and grands have been to. I especially enjoyed serving on the boards of Early Head Start

I never do this. I never leave exactly the same message to each one of my friends but I'm going to do it today. In the last month I have heard of two friends who have experienced a TIA (commonly known as a mini-stroke). One is a man in his 40s and the other a woman in her 50s. In honor of these dear people and all the loved ones my family has lost to heart disease I am sending this same message to each of my friends.

Jcofla has a profile here on AARP that you need to see. Please, take just a few minutes to read John's journal "Breakfast in Bed" and to watch three short videos about the American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women Day". Then take another minute to tell John thank you! You can find his profile here:
