I tried not to gobble up too much food today--gotta keep disciplined on holidays. I did indulge myself with some turkey, the first time I've had fowl since my arterial blockage scare a couple of years ago. Red meat is still forbidden; fish in small quantities is okay. How did you do today with all of the temptations to overeat?

Ted Williams was my favorite ball player since 1957 when I first took an interest in baseball. I saw Williams in the old Briggs Stadium in Detroit where he was 0 for 2 during the game I attended. This was the twilight of his career. If I remember correctly, he batted .388 in 1957.
