I have been very lucky that my living has been derived from what still is a passion for me. It defined a large part of "me". Lucky also that after the age of 35 I found many secondary activities to be passionate about.
I had a 28 year career as a house designer, (similar to architect but only residential). Early 'retirement' was a shock occuring due to the injured economy and the severely impacted housing industry.
I now live part time on a 19 acre wooded property in a circa 1900 era home. Lots of wildlife. It has been my Walden's Pond for almost a year. While we make plans... life happens. I'm looking forward... ready to savor the next chapter
Interests:
My primary interest/hobby remains Orchids, second is Travel. It is nice to mix the two for orchid travel. I've had as many as 600 orchids and I breed them. Currently president of an Orchid Society. I support conservation efforts. I envision a non-profit conservatory on this property for orchids and other plants native to coastal SC and GA. I have also served on a national committee for Universal Design and Sustainable Building. Volunteered in Habitat for Humanity. My travels haven taken me to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali, Thailand, Australia, So. Africa, Ecuador, Mexico, Russia & lived in Berlin, Germany. Lifelong photographer... various subjects from school pics, car racing, models, orchids, to wildlife. The saying is: The world is a photo! It is also the canvas of the masses; compose and record the image, virtually an instant work of artMy Photos (20)

Hello Savor - the pictures of your orchids are lovely. I especially like the photo of the hummingbird feeding. I'd send you a picture of the dendrobium (sp?) I have, but it would just be too embarassing.
I, too, live an older home (late 1800s), one that my grandparents owned and that I now make my home. Many memories, few electrical outlets.
I have one picture of my woods posted - worlds away from your landscape. I enjoyed your page
