I moved to this country in 1965 because of marriage to my husband who was stationed in Germany ..I did not know much about the Mexican culture but I have come to appreciate it much if over the years that I have lived in California. One of the wonderful things to me is the " Day of the Dead" whuch helps us all if we are open to it to have a connection with the ones that have passed away. I lost my Anerican husband very early in 1973 and was a widow until I married again in 1976, but that " Day of the Dead" always reminds me that we can be in loving touch with the ones we lost. A beautiful tradition! Also, they use a lot of humor! wich helps.

Thank you for your comments Sabine, you are right, we always think about our deceased loved ones, but the day of the dead is dedicated so we can remember all of our dead, not only one in particular and it is always celebrated with respect and at the same time some humor.
Take care
