"NO MORE TO SACRIFICE"

"No More to Sacrifice"

By RaeDi

Fighting this war year after year in time

What is the purpose, what have we gained?

Can we say the flag draped cofins

All set in there perfect rows, perfect lines

Does it give us any peace of mind?

Too many losses, too much sorrow

Please, please end this war by tomorrow

No more of our son and daughters

Will we send to fight this war, not one more will we sacrifice

What is this war, what are we fighting for?

All the wars, in all the years, for all of time

How many have paid the ultimate price?

Too many have we lost

When will we learn, will we learn?

No more are we willing to sacrifice

What is the cost?

No price, no price can take the place

Of our Fathers, Mothers, Brothers, Sisters

Our Sons and our Daughters

Each is too precious; the price too high for us to pay

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to each and every family that has served our country over all the years in time....RacDi

I was married to a Vietnam soldier who came home totally out of his mind and destroyed our family unit. Our family has had years of hurt to deal with because of his illness. My nephew has three children who have lupus because of his exposure in the Gulf War; his entire family is very sick. I just wish the world would stop the nonsense and just come to terms on the smallest level with PEACE. Thanks for your beautiful poem.

Dear Karean, I wrote this for Memorial Day. It seemed that I was suppose to post it now! I support are troops 100%. They are there because of duty. I can't believe how many have been lost, how many have come home with limbs gone, brain injurys, any and all of what we could imagine and more. Then their is the families that go year after year without their Father, Mother or in some case both. It bring tears to my eyes to even think about it. I live right in the middle of all it: Submarine Base, Surface Fleet, Army Base and an Air Force Base and the Navy fighters on the island that I can see from the beach. Our news is full of the information of different Memorials, Funerals and the hoptial is full to the rafters. We even have protestors show up at the Funerals. At least the court orders them to stay away for some distance. But I can't imagine burying a son or daughter and having protesters, maybe not seen, but can be heard....RaeDi

Thank you for expressing your heart rendering poem. The poet has the ear of God, so you are truly the voice of God. It hurts my heart to see the wounded and the recruiters on campus with enticements of T-shirts or free education for a phone number. I can hardly look the many recruiters in the eye, and they will not look at me or greet me, there seems to be so many of them these days. When one of the young ones is in a huddle with one of the recruiters, I just want to snatch them away from the huddle. I don't know how to be patriotic anymore. My heart bleeds for the mothers in far away lands who have a difficult time finding work and food for their children. How do the children go to school or church? Soon I think the poverty will be resting on our door steps as well. What will our world look like with gas prices so high one has to walk to work which is 13 to 20 miles away, and no bus to drop us in front of our office or home. It cost my granddaughter $5.00 a day for busfare. Is it time for all of us to join hands and pray for peace. I think we just have to stop the war some way some how.
