My Annual Visit To My CPA

My Annual Visit To My CPA

April 1st, 2008

Well it was that time of year again!  I always go to my CPA on April’s Fool’s Day, what better day is there to pay our taxes.  If it should be on a Sunday the Saturday before or the following Monday will do.  They don’t give me an appointment in the a.m.  I don’t want to start out my day knowing what I owe Uncle Sam.

My CPA, Kathleen, and I are good friends.  Each year when I arrive, I feel like I’m arriving for my Imaging for my yearly mamogram.  Once everything is over with I’m back to normal.  Kathleen takes a quick minute to catch up, but this time of year she is so busy, we just talk real fast.

When I arrive I get a hug.  Her partner when he knows I have an appointment always puts out the le bon cholcolats...the good chocolates.  I get a hug going in and wonderful chocolats going out.  I think the chocolats are to take your mind off things and to enjoy the moment.  That reminds me I need to ask Kathleen how I can go to Paris and have it as a tax write off.  I think she would have to do some very creative thinking on that one.  I don’t have a business, I can’t say I’m going there for my health, I don’t think Uncle Sam would understand when Paris and Seattle have the same weather.  We are both on the same longitude...but I don’t think we can convience the IRS it was a needed trip for health reasons.

Kathleen had a surprise to go with my le bon chocolats.  It was a note that said "You mean I’ve gotta pay tax on money I’ve already spent?"  How funny Kathleen.

For this year it is over.  I am so glad to have it done.  Wouldn’t it be nice if as we got older they had a scale saying for this age you get discounted this much and as you get older a greater discount up to the point of not having to pay a thing! What am I thinking...we’re the babyboomers and I don’t think we could possibly do that.

Thank goodness the IRS is only once a year, but of course there are the dreaded property taxes.  In this state they arrive on Valentine’s day in a pink envelope.  Just never get though giving it away.  It seems their hands are alway out for something!

Happy April’s Food Day, have you got your taxes done yet?

Hiya RaeDi!
I love your writing! I think that the writing box only shows to the author. We readers don't see it. So, not to worry!
