I am a retired college administrator. I completed my BS in Sociology/Psychology, being the only one in my immediate family to have a 4-year degree. I entered graduate school, but started to burn out, so I opted out. In hindsight, rather sorry I did. I enjoy watching golf, tennis, some college basketball, football, etc. I've taken golf lessons, but remain a beginner. I enjoy reading, movies, television, plus...trying to make each day a happy one. I belong to a mystery lover's discussion group that meets at one of the local libraries once per month. I never thought I'd be a mystery reader, but I am now. Now, I'm part of another book discussion group, so needless to say with those required readings, plus newspapers, magazine, the internet, I hope my eyes don't fall out.
I have my kitty, Beathen (Little B), who is getting bigger, and is pretty much a constant companion.
Interests:
Well, there really isn't too much to add to that that I have written in the "About Me" section. I do handicrafts, mostly knitting and crocheted items. I am not, nor have I ever been, athletic (kind of klutzy, you might say--the tennis racquets I used always had a hole in them). However, I make a great cheerleader!
Music:
Ah, music... How can one live without it. My mom was a light opera singer (trained voice). The Met has made available high definition videos of a number of the productions that are shown at one of the local theaters. I definitely take advantage of that. They have a moderator who interviews the conductor, the stage production manager, the opera stars, etc. It is great, and a lot less costly than going to the Met. Pretty eclectic in my tastes..some classical, jazz, hip-hop, top 20, etc
Movies:
Old classics like "African Queen," "White Christmas," Disney's "Cinderella," "Sleeping Beauty," then, "Mrs Doubtfire". I also am enjoying some of the new ones as I am taking advantage of my cable company's current movie availability. I liked "I Am Legend." I'm all over the place with movies, too. "Soylent Green," "Silence of the Lambs"
Books:
Right now, in between mysteries for one book discussion group and a general book discussion group, I'm reading "Eat, Pray, Love." Also, I actually purchase Barbara Walter's autobiography, "Audition." It is a hefty read, for sure. Other than that, I like a variety: self-help, relationship topics, historical fiction..pretty much whatever strikes my fancy. Oh, for those who read or saw the movie/book, "Chocolat," there is now a sequel, "The Girl With No Shadow," Joanne Harris. I bought that one, too. LOVED "Chocolat." However, it is on the shelf...waiting for me
Television:
Some of the reality shows (I am rather a people watcher). Some soap operas (that I used to watch with my mom), Grey's Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters, plus whatever strikes my fancy. I watch Wimbledon, the Olympics (including the trials), pro Golf
