I'm a mid-west farm girl with a great love of nature and an acquired appreciation and understanding for the value of this earth as food and shelter for survival.
I have a daughter and a 4 yr old grandson in Maryland. Here in Indiana, I have a stepson and daughter-in-law with 5 grandsons and one grand "dotter" ranging in age from 2 to 17 yrs.
At home, I have a wonderful husband who refuses to retire. It would be nice to have him home more!
Interests:
I enjoy digging in the family "bones" and spend a great deal of time and energy tracking the dead. Most of my searching is done online, having lost sight in one eye and feeling uncomfortable with driving to the library to browse dusty tomes. I do miss this part, tho! There is a great deal of history in clippings and localized genealogy magazines in our library (2nd largest in US).
Before the first grandchild was born (17+yrs ago) I joined the local Master Gardener program offered though Purdue University. This is a volunteer program. They furnish all the education and we furnish our time passing along our gifts to the community either in talks or service. I am no talker, but did work in the Historical Herb Garden with some wonderful women. My teaching was limited to Girl Scouts.
Until I lost confidence in driving, I volunteered in the Chaplaincy of one of our local hospitals. Now I limit my volunteer activities to catechizing grade school kids at our parish church just a couple miles down the road (1st grade at the moment, 2nd in the past)

Books:
I enjoy historical fiction by authors who have done the research and visualized a story theme to share the wealth of knowledge they have drawn from the deep Well of Time. When I am low in spirit, I like to pick up a favorite author from my adolescent years (Georgette Heyer). I love her humor and light story lines in her "manufactured" regency novels. Her mysteries are light and fun. Her historical novels are descriptive and her favorite work, but public demand and publishers pressured her to write her popular regency pieces. Money Talk$. I read the Liturgy of Hours. This is a 4-volume set of prayers read 5x daily. It is pslams, old and new testament readings, writings and sermons by the Faithful men and women of the early Church. IIt follows a 3yr cycle, and keeps me on Track. This Journey is difficult and this Road Map is really helpful!
