I have just completed My CERT ( COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONS TEAM ) and for those who don't know what it is go to WWW.CERT.gov.
well I am starting up a project here in salt lake city to where I have people donate
used medical Items such as wheelchairs electric chairs, walkers and etc. then I post
it in a local TV station that has a free classifieds section. if i have something that
someone needs then they can have what ever I have but I ask them when they are
through with it to bring it back for someone else to use. its for people that can't
afford to either to buy or rent them. I have a waiting list of people that need things.
I am medically retired but my line of work was to repair things. I have worked over
30 years in that line of work. anyway I go through the items and repair them with
what I have. I have a complete work shop from welder to mill and lath saws and all
kinds of hand tools. when i finish going through an item to make sure its safe to be
used i get a hole of the next one on the list. people call me a saint but I got to
much of the devil in me. but not one dime changes hands. lots of people want to
donate money but I can't take money but if they want to donate items I tell them
that I can use things like cleaning supplies because that comes out of what little I
have in my pocket

I give classes to local kids on how to maintain a car. my class goes through ( rotating tires, changing the oil, checking all the fluids ). these classed are free and each kid has to bring their own car and they change the oil and rotate the tires. they also learn how to change a tire as well. I do classes 2 times a month during the spring, summer, and fall.
I started those classed with my own two girls. and they have told me that it has helped them out of binds several times. I also get notes from the kids parents as well
Music:
I love the oldies rock and roll, I played drums when I was younger
Movies:
there are to many good movies out there but i like the action pack ones the best
Books:
the same with books but what helps is we get the books on CD or cassette and when
we drive a long ways like going to visit my parents it makes a 5 hour trip go fast
and it seems like 20 minutes. for those who have kids it works so much better
