About Me

I came to Washington over the July 4th weekend in 1979 with two young sons. My sons have grown and moved away. I am retired but work part-time when I can. My plan is to "age in place" where I am most comfortable, my home.

Interests:
I am active in my church (St. John's Lutheran) in Alexandria, Virginia. I'm looking forward to singing in the choir the first Sunday in September. I look forward to volunteering at the Life@50+ Event and Expo as a Roving Reporter/Internet Blogger. I must admit, this is the first time I've ever done anything like this. I'm excited and frightened at the same time. It will be fun to get my feet wet. I think I will enjoy blogging. I would like to find other senior citizens who are new to this activity. Perhaps we can learn from each other

Music:
I like all classical music. I also enjoy popular music that is either inspirational or spiritual in nature, most folk songs and singers, old and new. I still love to hear music from the '60s including Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, and Judy Collins.

Movies:
I don't go to the movies that often. The last movie I saw was "Charlie Wilson's War" with Tom Hanks. Incidentally, I looked in "Capitol Advantage" just to be sure it was Charlie Wilson. The make-up job on Tom Hanks was incredible. Another favorite, Jack Nicholson in "The Bucket List." That was so enjoyable. Morgan Freeman was also excellent. And just about anything with Nicholas Cage. He is another one of my favorite actors

Books:
Right now, I am reading the book, "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World" by Joanna Weaver. The book is about Mary and Martha, friends of Jesus, who lived in Bethany. It is actually a Bible study. I like any book by Kathy Reichs. I love forensics especially "old bones." Presently, I'm reading "Blogging for Dummies" but I would rather read "Publishing a Blog with Blogger" by Elizabeth Castro. I really appreciate color screenshots

Television:
By now, you know one of my favorite tv shows is "Bones." I just love the subject and the chemistry between the cast. Another favorite is "House." Dr. House is so BAD he's good. He's one of the best actors we have today. Another favorite show is "Cold Case." Again, I love the cast but also the subject matter. I love going back in time to see the fashion and the music. Truly the best of Jerry Bruckheimer, and all of his work is really excellent
