Hi! Thanks for stopping by! In December I completed an eventfilled year as an "AARP My Dream Job" winner in the 'New Worker' category. I am grateful for all of the blessings I have received as one of the six winners. As much fun as winning the contest was, the past year was filled with personal sorrow as people I loved faced illness and death. Life takes many turns and at times it feels more like a roller coaster ride with more downs than ups. Now that I have completed my "reign" and the requirement of journalling, I plan to continue as I find that putting things in writing is a great way to ascertain if I'm moving forward, just treading water or falling behind. I thank you for showing an interest in my journals and I pray that all goes well for you in the coming year. It is supposed to be a year of "change" so let's all pray that it is a change for the good. After several unsuccessful job interviews, I made the decision to continue my education at Cornerstone University's Lansing campus. Cornerstone offers a terrifice program called Professional & Graduate Studies (PGS) for working adults. PGS is an accelerated program in which courses are completed one at a time, in a five week time span. If all goes well, I will graduatie in July of 2010. I will continue to apply for positions in my field, while broadening my skills. My journey continues..
Interests:
I love to read and spend time with family and friends. I recently joined a gym...it keeps me moving and boosts my physical and emotional well being
Music:
Although I love music, I'm not one to turn on the radio or CD player just for background noise. As with books, my music likes are all over the map. About the only styles I have never been able to get into are rap and hip hop.
Movies:
There are so many terrific movies that it is hard to name a favorite. As for actors, Judi Dench and Meryl Streep are high on my list. I admire any actor/actress who can effectively portray a character and draw me into the story.
Books:
My passion is reading and there aren't enough hours in the day. I am an eclectic reader and read nearly all genres. My fiction reading includes authors Michael Scott Card (his historical fiction works), Jan Karon, Alexander McCall Smith, John Grisham, Janet Evanovich, Tolkein, C.S. Lewis and on and on. My non-fiction reading encompasses a lot of legal related writing as well as religious works and other topics that pique my interest
Television:
I am a diehard Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy fan. I dream of someday appearing on Wheel, but I'm definitely not a candidate for Jeopardy. I enjoy watching documentaries and travelogues. Other TV viewing is sporadic and tends to depend on my schedule. I never turn the TV on just for background noise
