About Me

Interests:
I like to be creative. I enjoy textile arts. I quilt, sew, and knit. Recently, I took a workshop in beaded embellishments. I learned techniques to help speed up the process. I found a wonderful watercolor painting instructor. I enjoy classes whenever possible. I try techniques that I would not try on my own. Since my company layoff last January, I am seeking volunteer activities while I transition into the health care field

Music:
I sing in a University/Community Choir. We sing mostly sacred music from many different cultures and periods of time. I try to attend live choral concerts as much as possible. I enjoy folk music too. I try not to get into musical ruts. I like to experience new sounds as much as some people like to taste new cuisine

Movies:
I haven't been to a movie theatre since the 1900's. My niece laughs at me. I did attend a college production of "Hair" last spring. I took my Mom to a performance at a small community theatre. A local woman portrayed several of her ancestors. The play was tied together by the family aprons, baking and recipes.

Books:
I'm a cozy mystery reader...but I'm getting bored. My favorite authors just can't seem to publish new titles fast enough. I enjoy memoirs. I need to find more that suit my reading appetite. I admire Jennifer Chiaverini, author of the Elm Creek Quilt novels. She is skillful at developing intriguing characters and weaving the plots through past and present. She has a new novel out! I can't wait to read it.

Television:
There's not much on.... Mom and I watch the Hallmark Chanel. The same movies repeat over and over. My husband and I watch "CSI", "NCIS' type shows....he asks me questions that I can't answer. I like "Cold Case" and "Without a Trace." It makes me feel good when the victim is rescued or found alive
