I love to make connections with people who are enjoying the "Golden Years." I am from NY and am a retired teacher since 2004. I speak Italian, some Spanish, and of course English. It amazes me each time I hear a voice on the other end of the phone saying, "Press 1 if you want English." Isn't it normal to speak English in the US? Yes, I'm aware that our Country doesn't have an official language. When I lived in Italy for a year, I wanted to speak Italian. Oh, well, what do I know?
I am a mother of two single children. My husband was "made in Italy." My parents were Italian-Americans. It seems I've taught every grade in the NY school system and my last experience was teaching ESL to adults in BOCES. What a rewarding career! Retired life is relaxing but I want and need to continue to use my education and skills. Looking forward to the next goal.
