On Wednesday, AARP issued a press release, “ AARP Comments on Senate Finance Committee Health Reform Legislation ,” responding to Sen. Baucus’ introduction of his health care reform bill.  There is a great deal of press coverage, analysis and comment about the introduction on the Internet and elsewhere so we won’t repeat that information here, but additional AARP materials will be available in coming days.  Sen. Here is an excellent report, Environmental Threats to Healthy Aging, from the Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility.  The report was recently featured in an interview on AARP Prime Time Radio.  The report describes how environmental factors throughout the lifespan are key drivers of today's common chronic diseases.

A noted passing in the AARP family.

Dr. Victor Hurst of Clemson and a former national AARP board member passed away last week in Clemson.  Dr. Hurst retired as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the University at Clemson University and was an Alumni Distinquished Professor. Read the online obituary here
