So, it’s the day before July 4th, Our Independence Day. This makes me think of our soldiers past and present, who have fought and died for our country. My prayers are with those who are serving our country, and the families who are at home, making an attempt at a celebration while worrying over their own.
My father was a World War II veteran, a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. I was always very proud of him. I have 3 brothers who are Navy veterans. Myself, I am a Navy vet as well, although we were never faced with combat duty. I spent some time with CBU-404, and there were a few Vietnam Vets in that group at the time. These folks were the most wonderful people, they never spoke of their time spent there, and after seeing actual footage of that war I can understand why.
My hat is off, and my hand is over my heart for all veterans and their families. I hope that everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July, and that you remember our servicemen and women who are dedicating their lives to the freedom in this country.
