My Journals (4)

Okay, so it's been quite quiet around here lately.....and no I have not been out on the new toy yet.  Uhhhhh  (heavy sigh)  The sweetie had to order a "sissy bar", (I prefer to call it a backrest, because I am not a sissy).  Of course for our toy they're on backorder, if you can believe that.

But here's the latest news....I don't want to ride, I want to drive.  I want to be on my own little scooter, in control. Hehe..I want to have the wind flying off of my visor/helmet, and my jeans whipping in the wind.  Ahem...even though I'm so skeered!  But you didn't hear that from me.  It's just an oversized bicycle right?  I can still ride a bike, and am not afraid of horses either.  But, this IS a far cry from the Yamaha 80 my brother had when I was ummm...much younger.

So, the shopping has begun for my very own little toy.  First choice being a little Honda Rebel, it's soooo cute!  Unfortunately it does not come in neon metallic pink....so sad.

So, it’s the day before July 4th, Our Independence Day.  This makes me think of our soldiers past and present, who have fought and died for our country.  My prayers are with those who are serving our country, and the families who are at home, making an attempt at a celebration while worrying over their own.

My father was a World War II veteran, a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.  I was always very proud of him.  I have 3 brothers who are Navy veterans.  Myself, I am a Navy vet as well, although we were never faced with combat duty.  I spent some time with CBU-404, and there were a few Vietnam Vets in that group at the time.  These folks were the most wonderful people, they never spoke of their time spent there, and after seeing actual footage of that war I can understand why.

My hat is off, and my hand is over my heart for all veterans and their families.  I hope that everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July, and that you remember our servicemen and women who are dedicating their lives to the freedom in this country.

So, I've been a member for a couple of weeks now, and I'm so amazed.  I mean, by people of course.  I've met some truly awesome people, that have uplifted me, and we've never met.  I have to say that my new friends are all truly blessed with their individual gifts, but mostly the gift of the ability to reach out.  I thank each and every one of you, and hope that you all know how truly I will value our online friendships.

OMG....I actually have tears....so ridiculous!

I hope you all have an amazing day, and you get the opportunity to experience something new today.

So I turned 50 recently, and I honestly didn't think it was a big deal at the time.  Seems the more it wears on me the less attractive it is.

I'm finding myself wondering what the heck to do to keep busy, besides the housework, laundry and such.  I've never really taken time to do anything for myself, it was always the things I had to do, or doing for others.

Never having been much of a joiner, I feel now that I've wasted a lot of time.  Anyway, people have always interested me,  I'm the one at the mall not shopping, just people watching.  I hope that doesn't sound creepy, I'm not a psycho or anything.
