About Me

DC native, spent most of life there... growing up and working. Now just another commodity in the economic system; an old guy living in las Cruces NM.. I said old, not dead. I live alone, eat alone, sleep alone (not by choice... I am too eclectic... LOL) I have seen two UFO's in my life.. does that make me weird? I spent a lot of time at UFO museum library in Roswell.... maybe we are not alone in the cosmos after all. I was never into Star Trek.... but I think the premise was valid: Look for intelligent life elsewhere in the universe; none here

Interests:
I am still doing my own research on Native American culture; Oral histories I learned recently from Lakota on Pine ridge reservation indicate Custer died for our sins. I like to trek around ruins and historical sites around the SW and visit various tribes and chat up their resident historians. Other than that, not up to much... some wine tasting now and then... thus, I am boring to a fault... but I can cook (learned that while developing survival skills after divorce). I like cats instead of dogs. Women: All a guy need to know about women he can learn from a cat. I am a long time Redsox fan... always like to root for the underdog. While pursuing my MBA, I learned American economic basics... Jesus saves, Moses invests and Wall Street Republicans take what others save and invest. Politics... the average citizen is just a commodity to be brokered by slick marketing experts.. the same ones that sold us the Edsel. D. Cheney is a Klingon in disguise. George Bush rode side-saddle. The cultural mantra of 1776 was "no taxation without representation" It's 233 years later and nothing has changed. We need to abolish the electoral college to promote democracy. Otherwise, rednecks will rule again. Obama's win was a fluke. Newly elected Gov of Virginia will ascend tot eh throne. Already he is learning how to cook grits, NASCAR rules and what beverage goes good with pork rinds. When he announces he is "born again" he is a shoe in. So I hope you saved your Dixie Cups, the South is gonna rise again. Adolph Hitler could carry the South following the same regimen.

Las Cruces is not a retirement-friendly town even though it is advertised in national magazines as such. Reality: It is a  lawless city....with a City Government that is ran for the benefit of developers... It features a mayor that sees himself as a "monarch" to hold court and usurp US Constitutional guarentees.. a free press is a no-no to him.  He is a useless entity as he has no power to do anything except to hog the PA mike at public meetings, which he loves to do.

"Gringos" are second class citiizens here... Hispanics see us as a threat to their way of life... which features unabated noise and reckless endangerment on city streets.  DUI's are badges of attainment here.. looked upon like gold stars for perfect attendance.  It is common to find a driver causing a fatal accident to be driving under the influence and already has 20 previous DUI's on his record.Uninsured vehicles is a menance too.. teh State ahs no active follow ups when a policy lapses like most states.

The City Manager is a self-absorbed African-American that demonstrates a dislike for whites.  Understandable, but not appropriate in his position managing a multi-racial community.  He's perfect  though.. just ask him. He demonstrates up front in your face he is "one bad dude" not to be argued with and would love to put a cap yo **** for disagreeing with him.. after his perfection rules.

Hispanic police avoid writing tickets and giving blood alcohol tests when an accident occurs. The Police Chief hates "gringos" and thus has difficulty responding to a Gringo's request for law enforcement in neighborhoods.. his attitude is have a nice day someplace else, and don't live in my city.

So if you want to retire to a friontier town.. where you are own your own when it comes to personal safety... willing to lose a lot of sleep with constant noise from subwoofers, Harleys, and barking dogs... come on down,  bring your guns and plenty of ammo.. you are own your own.

LOL I just noticed that you graduated from Averett. If it was a university at the time, I can pretty well gauge when (having taught there when it was still a "college"). All that took was a wave of the magic wand, you know . . . welcome to Wrinkly City!

I read your profile and your comments. I would love to have you in my neighborhood. I love a man that is gifted with a great sense of humor, and you have one. I almost laughed out loud reading your impression of your town and the town major, no, that was the city manager. Did you ever think of going "live, on stage"? You'd be a hit. Please stay in touch. My regular email address is emtdawn@earthlink.net and I have had that one for many, many years. I spent 27 years as a volunteer on our local rescue squad in Presque Isle, Wisconsin. Gave it up when we moved to Florida. I already wrecked my knee twice carrying people who were too heavy! Ha! I started out as the first female fire"man" in the squad because you had to be a firemen before they could vote you in to the Emergency Medical Squad. It was rewarding and I still stop and assist when I come across an accident. I'll have to get busy an finish my journal on here and the rest of it. Thanks for the enjoyable read!! Stay in touch, please. It's always great to find a new friend, especially with a sense of humor. Have a great day!
