Facing retirement and beyond - a great new adventure. I have been a writer and musician most of my life but have kept them sidelined for too long. I've been published and currently edit and write for a local magazine, San Diego Woman. Yup, one of the few males on staff.
Leaving a job after 36 years creates a chasm where those hours once were. Words and music quickly fill them with joys I had long forgotten about. Now, guitar in hand, it feels like home. As if an old friend came 'round and sat down for a long overdue talk. Warm solace as the days stretch ahead. Friendship is that old blanket we wrap around us on cold afternoons. A calming, grounding sense of what's important and what's not. Touching the strings and feeling the vibrations resonate through my body brings a smile and a quiet tear of joy. Home.
