Dear Mzlin, what an interesting person you are. And a dog lover as well! I have just one dog, Wee Willie, a 14-year-old schnauzer. He is slowing down, and has a heart condition (has had it for several years) which is under control.
I'd like to see the pictures of your animals. As you can probably tell, I'm an animal lover.
I'm sorry to hear of your auo accident in 2007. Will your head trauma go away ever? I can understand why you've become less sociable as a result.
I am so glad you joined our group. Your husband's gardening sounds so good. I now live in a condo, and although we are connected only by side walls (each condo is two stories high, mine is three-bedroom, 2-1/2 baths, we don't have much space outside to plant gardens. I have a few tomato plants among the flowers in the back. Surprisingly, we are reaping quite a few tomatoes. I remember when we could have a regular garden though. I moved here after my husband died, and my daughter lives next door.
I was SO glad to welcome you to our group. I hope to hear more from you.
Bev
Dear Mzlin, Welcome to our knitting group. My name is Bev (docbev) and I think it's great that you joined us. You say one of your interests is knitting, and the rest seem to revolve around pets. How long have you been knitting? I've been knitting since I was an undergrad in college (a looooooooooooong time ago. I have several (or more) projects in progress. My problem seems to be finishing them. I belong to a knitting group that meets once a week at Panera's. You MUST have a no-brainer knitting project for those meetings, as the chat is constant and it's impossible to keep to a complex project.
What pets do you have? I have just one: Willie, a miniature schnauzer. He is the apple of our eyes, he is rotten spoiled, and cute as a button. He's 14 years old now, where does the time go?
I live in Michigan. Mother Nature, almost apologetically in an attempt to make up for the terrible storms we've been having the last few weeks, has blessed us with gorgeous weather. I can't believe it, we've had three beautiful days, and it's not supposed to rain again until Wednesday.
Again, welcome. Hope to see more of you.
Bev
Hello, DocBev, and thank you for the welcome to the group. I've been knitting for 3 years but learned a little about how to knit way back in my twenties (a LONG time ago). Like about everyone else who knits, I have many many UFOs and several single socks. I just can't seem to get going on sock #2 each time. I have 2 dogs and a cat. The dogs are Brie (Whippet) and Sunny (mini doxie but he's actually a few pounds over mini weight but he's NOT overweight). The cat is Katie, and she's a beauty. I'll post pix. The Doxie is the light of my life, and we don't go away overnight anymore because we can't bear to board him. Being a birder, I know it's hard to believe but I'm afraid of birds. Wild ones, though, are no threat. It's just the tame ones that scare me. We have a nest of Eastern Bluebirds right now, 2nd one this season, and a nest of Carolina Chickadees fledged a week or so ago.
I was in a knitting cl****at the local tech, but a car accident in December of 2007 has left me with some kind of head trauma that makes noise unbearable, and I've become somewhat unsociable as a result. That's one reason this group will be SO good for me. I'd love to get a couple of my quieter friends over for knitting and refreshments once or so a month, but we're very isolated and with gas so expensive that'll have to wait until people can drive this distance without going broke! We finally got some rain recently and looks like we're going to get more. Much needed, too. My husband likes his veggie and herb gardening and it's been hard this year and last. The droughts here in NC have made growing anything a challenge.
Thanks again for the welcome, and I look forward to being able to be part of a group again. I miss my group and look forward to the day I can sit in the classroom and not be bothered by all the noise and laughing. That's probably what I miss most!!
Linda
