Michael McL...... I never got around to checking up on your 2008 crop. Did you get a really big pumpkin? I had a lot of good vegetables but not as many as former years. We over-plant because we have such "unusual" weather as the Californians say. One year we can't ripen a tomato and the next we can't find enough people to give them to. So we plant about twice what we should and hope for the best. You seem to have gotten a good grip on the Oregon farming. Good for you! As a former Oregonian, (Portland) I don't think I ever did as well as you. We didn't raise any berries as they were too easy to come by but we did go up to Mt. Hood and pick Huckleberries. The Indians used to come up from Warm Spring and pick and can right there in camp. Then when they left we went in and picked what we could. We alway got plenty. Now I think there is a big resort in our little valley. It was downhill from Timberline Lodge a few miles and a pretty place. Must have been on the Oregon Trail because there were graves here and there in the woods.
Let me hear about you 2009 plans. Did you get a lot of snow?
